| Introduction | I am a little under medium height, of robust body, nimble and vigorous. I have a large and open forehead, a straight and even nose, gray eyes which are generally pleasant, but which blaze when I am angry. By nature I am taciturn, thinking much and saying little, though speaking very well in the proper time and place. I sleep for only four to five hours per night. I praise and love freedom of speech, and show myself joyous and facetious, as well as biting, in my joking. I approve of the ceremonies of the Aboriginals and hold to all faith and religion. I do not want to forget to say that I engage willingly in fasts, prayers, alms, and patience; I abhor vice and chastise it severely. I can remember myself giving to the poor, towards whom I am very liberal and charitable. |
