| Introduction | The Beguines originated in thirteenth century Europe. They were women who followed a contemplative life but lived in secular society. There is much need for such women again today. I am called to a contemplative life, but as a wife and mother I live firmly 'in the world'. Yet I have connected with many wise and holy women who also live life in the world but provide others with an anchor to the things of God. |
