Sketching Along The Way...

About me

Introduction	When I started this blog a couple of years ago, I was mostly sketching with a ball point pen. However, since then, I have taken a watercolour class, and am very taken with the idea of simple sketches enhanced with various watercolour highlights. For me, it is still all about the contrast between light and dark and I love the shadows that come from bright light. Recently I have also been intrigued with the idea of perspective; odd perspectives and things drawn from weird angles. It is also about inspiration - that spark I feel when a drawing suddenly starts coming together. The goal is to be able to take my sketchbook with me on my various travels - local and further afield. I always try to draw and paint from real life and, even though I sometimes feel a bit intimidated by sketching in public, once I get started, I quickly forget to be self conscious. I joined the Vancouver Urban Sketchers and have enjoyed numerous sessions out and about in Vancouver. It is fun to draw and chat with sketch keeners. So, the challenge is to find a groove, be brave and trust the process enough to keep drawing. Regularly and at best, daily. See it. Sketch it.
