| Introduction | I've always known I could draw, and as a teenager I enjoyed pencil sketching, especially portraits. In my early twenties I stopped sketching, and didn't pick it up again until 1991. A spark was lit, and I discovered that being an artist was very much a part of who I am. I dabbled in watercolor and color pencils for a while, and then I discovered pastels in 1993. Pastel has become my passion, it is my preferred medium, nothing else seems to compare. I cannot seem to get enough of it although I ocassionally enjoy working in watercolor, gouache, Inktense blocks and pencil, charcoal, and graphite pencil. Portraits and still life used to be my two favorite subjects, however I now also enjoy painting landscapes. I have discovered a whole new world of subjects to paint, though portraits are still my favorite. |
