| Introduction | I got my BS in Combined Sciencesfrom Youngstown State University in 1999. I minored in English because I believe that scientists need to be able to communicate clearly to present their findings to the world. After receiving my undergraduate degree, I attended The Ohio State University as a graduate student in the Microbiology Department, where I first researched the rosR gene in Rhizobium etli, and then, after my first advisor left, I worked with Bacillus subtilis until I decided that this was not the best career path for me and left the program to explore other options. I am now employed as a Technical Editor for the American Chemical Society, where I am the Journal Leader for ACS Combinatorial Science and I am the Backup Journal Leader for Environmental Science and Technology. I decided to pursue a Master of Arts in Technical Communication to enhance my skill set for my current job in scientific publishing and to expand my knowledge of technical communication in general. My interest lies in scientific communication: How do scientists communicate now and how will they communicate in the future? |
