Introduction	RIVANNA RANGERS The Story The “recent unpleasantness” between the States has ended. The pacification and reconstruction of the South has visited violence and privation upon the residents of the Charlottesville, Virginia area. Being within a few days ride of Washington, the area receives more than its share of Federal attention. A collection of young men from Central Virginia, most veterans of units from the Army of Northern Virginia, find themselves without family or home. Under the leadership of the Virginia Ranger, they form the Rivanna Ranger Company. Their purpose is to bring security and justice to area residents. Failing in this attempt, and short on shelter, food and ammunition, the Rangers decide to seek their fortunes in the West. A series of Cowboy Action Shooting scenarios depicts the westward migration of the Rangers, as they ultimately seek their fortunes in Hollywood, California, when they are no longer young men. NOTE: As do the members of the Single Action Shooting Society adopt an alias and matching persona, so have we adopted a “persona” for the Rivanna Rangers.
