| Introduction | Mike Antonucci spent more than 31 years as a reporter, columnist and editor at the San Jose Mercury News. He moved on -- his choice, by the way -- in mid-2008 and has watched with increasing detachment as the newspaper industry works with relentless efficiency at hastening its demise. A partial history of Antonucci's assignments include a long tour of duty as a sportswriter, a reasonable stint as a TV columnist and some hardscrabble time as a telecommunications reporter.
