Location Thanks for visiting. Welcome to my blog from, Central, Singapore
Introduction For 2 years (1964 - 1966), I fronted Singapore guitar groups, recording artistes: The Velvetones/Firebyrds, Swallows and Silver Strings. Enjoyed fun and excitement those years. Since I took an academic path afterwards this blog serves as a coffee-stop and written to (a) relive my missing music years, (b) keep seniors posted about our local music, (c) encourage music stories from readers, (d) keep our younger generation, especially my 3J's, aware of our music heritage and (e) help students with term papers or information regarding popular culture and local music history in the 60's . Although I have lived the age and participated in the music I am neither a music guru nor historian. No showing off past glories. Having completed a Dip. TESL (Victoria, NZ); Cert. Eng Lit (Aberdeen, SCOT); BA Eng Lang/Literature (Winnipeg, CA) and MA App. Linguistics (Macquarie, AU) I welcome mail from readers with similar interest. Interests New Friends, Country Visits, Creative Exchange, Humour, Indonesian and Malay Language, Literary Novels, Movies, Phonetics, Sociology, Theatre, Travel, Writing, Write to me.
Favorite Movies No favourite ones but will not watch those with predictable plots and lame acting. Actors of quality include Denzel Washington, Leonardo DiCaprio, Russell Crowe and Charlize Theron.
Favorite Music Again no particular favourite but love Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Dean Martin, Eartha Kitt, Neil Diamond, Aretha Franklin, Bob Dylan, Beatles, Dire Straits and 50's to 60's pops. Local groups include: Quests, Silver Strings, Swallows, Trailers, Thunderbirds, etc. Grew up on Hollywood musicals and songs from rock n roll movies but love Teresa Teng and some P. Ramlee compositions.
Favorite Books Too many titles, so I took off the old list and left it blank this time around. But I enjoy literary novels and Eckhart Tolle's 'A New Earth', which makes a lot of sense.
