| Introduction | Pravah, a leading New Delhi-based non profit organization incepted Change Looms in 2005. Change Looms is an annual program wherein applications are invited from young people with a demonstrated commitment to a social cause, and the ability to take people along. Shortlisted applicants undergo a formal structured process of training and mentoring that begins at the one-week Development and Assesment Centre workshop. In this workshop they build their skills, refine their ideas and get an opportunity to receive feedback on their work from peers and social sector leaders. Post the workshop, they are mentored for a period of 10-months to realise their learning goals. Successful candidates are felicitated at a public event and given a small organisation develoment grant. Pravah, founded in 1993 works with adolescents and youth across India to impact issues of social justice through youth citizenship action. It has expanded its portfolio to teachers training, incubating new initiatives and facilitative work with other organizations working on youth development. Together with these partners it is currently advocating for youth development and citizenship action in the country. |
