Introduction Born in South Carolina to a land of red clay and green grass, where she drew in the dirt with a stick as a kid, Judy Holder is still inspired by the earth and its inhabitants. That stick led to charcoal, paint brushes, hammers, chisels and any sundry tool with which to apply paint or wax. That dirt is now the paint that she applies to panel or canvas to create a colorful impression of her visual, sensory experience. Just about any subject matter can be fodder for a painting. The right light illuminating her subject can create the dynamic shapes she is looking for. Her painting is concerned with the manipulation of the materials, as much as it is with places and objects. Judy has exhibited artwork at venues in the Southeast and the Northeast, including: The Golden Thread Gallery in West Hartford CT, the Alex Von Schlippe Gallery of Art at University of CT, Avery Point campus, Groton CT; the Pratt-Wright Gallery in Noank, CT, the Beresford Gallery, Saratoga NY and the National Sculpture Society in New York City. jholderfineart@gmail.com www.facebook.com/judyholderstudio http://judyholder.blogspot.com
