| Introduction | Doug began outdoor pursuits as a kid, camping in the backyard, and riding his bike around the neighborhood. He started hiking and backpacking in 1984 in the Adirondacks of NY, pursuing the ADK 46 high peaks and spending many nights throughout the wilderness areas of the Adirondacks. In 1989 he discovered rock climbing and considers his home crags the Shawangunks and Adirondacks of NY. He has climbed throughout the US and internationally. Spending time in Maine, New Hampshire, West Virginia, Kentucky, Colorado, California, France, Spain and Greece to name a few. In 1996 he also began backcountry skiing in the northeast on telemark gear, essentially learning through the school of hard knocks. He has also backcountry skied in various other western states and also in Chile, skiing the volcanoes. Doug is currently a certified American Mountain Guides Association Single Pitch Instructor and Apprentice Rock Guide, AIARE Level 2 avalanche certified and a Wilderness First Responder. |
