Introduction | I live insuburban St. Louis, Missouri, retired after a career in radio and TV. My degree is in journalism from the University of Oklahoma in 1949. From Wichita Falls, Texas, I worked at WKY,Oklahoma City then moved to St. Louis, Missouri. where I worked for 30 years for the Pulitzer Publishing Company's broadcast stations KSD Radio and KSD-TV. While not famous, my life is interesting because it has covered such a long period during the rapid development of this country and the television industry. Between 1925 and 2013 much transpired in the history of the United States. Let me explain. My grandfather had a heart attack in 1927 and died. Nothing could be done, either to prevent it or treat him to cure him. I had a heart attack in 1991 and I recovered and engaged in activity of my choosing: runing, hiking, cycling, flying driving a car. There was a fleatng thought of death at the time. It was replaced only with plans for a future that has no end other than old age. My great-grandfather J.H. Barwise died at 97, an age that I hope to attain. My sub-title for this blog is, "Beginning to End." Maybe about 2022. |
