About me

IntroductionDr Bradley's Linctus was launched as a sailaway on the 19th September 2008, having been built by David Millar Marine in Winsford. A sailaway is a shell with engine, doors and windows but nothing else. Since then I have been fitting it out to it's present state, but it remains a work in progress. It opened as a cafe and bookshop on 23rd July 2011 after 5 years of planning and working towards this aim. During this time not only have I lived aboard the boat but also cruised extensively. In 2008 I travelled to my home town of Sowerby Bridge along the River Trent. In 2009 I crossed the Pennines on the Leeds and Liverpool canal then south on the Shropshire Union, Macclesfield and Peak Forest canals before returning to Sowerby Bridge on the Rochdale canal. 2010 saw me crossing the Huddersfield Narrow Canal and through the impressive Standedge tunnel before heading down the Grand Union Canal to London, Hertford and Bishops Stortford, returning again on the River Trent. This year began with a trip through Birmingham and is to be followed by the Llangollen canal, the River Weaver and the Leeds and Liverpool to York before returning again to Sowerby Bridge.
