Introduction I am a retired executive who has lived and worked on the western Pacific Rim for more than 19 years. After graduate education at Princeton I moved to Taiwan in 1971 to teach at Tunghai University. I then joined Exxon’s treasurer’s department first in New York City and then in Houston, in Australia as the finance manager and in Hong Kong as planning manager and treasurer. I left Exxon in 1986 to become the CFO of a startup telecommunications company based in Hong Kong and then founded and was the CEO of a regional venture capital company affiliated with a Hong Kong investment bank. In 1990 I rejoined Exxon in Dallas as head of their corporate philanthropy and president of the Exxon Education Foundation, later the ExxonMobil Foundation. I retired from that position in 2005 and began teaching graduate courses on Corporate Responsibility and Business Ethics first at Southern Methodist University in Dallas and since 2007 at Hong Kong Baptist University. In both places there has also been frequent public speaking and advocacy on those topics. Other interests include education, photography, history and travel.
