| Introduction | I am a single mom, empty nester. My son is a US MArine. My daughter is in a veternary tech program. I am a mom, a siter, a daughter. I am a poet, a writer, a literacy specialist, and a college adjunct professor. I strive to make this world a better place in what I do and think about. I have started this charitable event to help do my part in this awful war. Joey is my only natural born son, and Jenni, his older sister, my only natural born daughter. We lost their dad to a courageous battle of cancer in May on Memorial Day, 2002. It was very hard to say goodbye to their loving father. I helped raise three other stepchildren, the twins Kyle and Jason and their younger sister Lauren. I am bilingual, speaking Spanish fluently. I love my careers,and the work I do with at-risk children and adults is extremely rewarding. I am currently enrolled in a doctoral program earning my ED.D. in Teaching & Learning.
