| Introduction | I have been a horse trainer using gentle methods for many years. I've trained horses in NY, CA, MT, WI and now here in Central Mexico I have witnessed many incredible things. One thing that continually amazes me is that the softer and the quieter my training methods are - the more powerful is the response of the horse in training. It is as if the horse invites me to enter their world when I am quiet and soft. In contrast it is my experience that many horse owners and trainers take their world to the horse - a world of noise, violence, expectations and hurry-up and hence the horse's desire to understand and to meet a human half-way simply disappears and the training is therefore compromised to a great extent. No matter the situation or the horse I always approach the horse with an attitude of honor, respect and humility. The horse picks-up on it immediately and then we can proceed together. |
