About me

Introduction	Hi! I'm Carol Sullivan. I am, in addition to being a gardener, a wife and a mother of 2 sons. I taught young children for 31 years, 28 years as a teacher in the Providence Public School System. I just RETIRED!!! and am eagerly awaiting my first Spring as a Full-Time Gardener. I started gardening here in Northwestern RI 22 years ago with some strawberries taken from my previous home and a few impatiens. Over the years my interest in gardening grew. I completed the URI Master Gardener program in 2002. Our garden has evolved from a big patch of scraggly grass to a series of garden rooms full of trees, shrubs, perennials, herbs, a fish pond and several structures that my husand Paul built. We are serious about caring for the environment, constantly searching for more earth-friendly methods and materials. We currently have 6 rain barrels and almost no lawn. Through this blog I am hoping to meet and share ideas with like-minded gardeners. When we are not working in our garden, Paul and I love to sit and watch the birds, chipmunks, frogs, insects and other wild things that share the garden with us. We also enjoy kayaking, sailing, hiking and cross-country skiing.
