| Introduction | My name is Sarita Khisty; a 20 something resident of Bombay since childhood. With a culinary tradition that is remarkable only for its functionality, I’ve only recently developed a sense of aesthetic in the food I eat and the way it is prepared. I intend this blog to document the blossoming of this still nascent passion and serve as a repository of all my experiments with its successes and failures. It will also serve to development my craft of the written word. I chose the moniker ‘The Clean Toothpick’ after some deliberation. To the uninitiated, it refers to the toothpick/knife one inserts into a cake to test if it’s properly baked. If it comes out clean, it’s done. It aptly reflects my desire and quest for perfection in my cooking. I am rather infamous for my lack of discipline or perseverance, so here’s me starting off this journey with much trepidation but equal hope. |
