| Introduction | I was once a metalhead. I dug stuff that was evil and brutal as well as high speed riffs, supremely distorted guitars and double kick drums! Until one day a Swedish band opened the way for me as they had done for many others before me. This band, which still today remains my favourite, is the Swedish doom rock act, Witchcraft. My interest in the Swedish stoner rock (or as I prefer to call it "the Swedish 70's rock revival") scene grew and I started checking out loads of other Swedish bands. After a while I dug deeper and started to dig up the bands which had influenced these musicians. Suddenly I found myself in a haze of psychedelic, folk, hard rock, progressive rock and proto-doom and realized that this was the shit! And ever since I've enjoyed the 70's and 60's music to the fullest, but I still enjoy some doom metal on occasion. |
