| Introduction | My name is Sheila Mansier, and I teach French at Olympia High School in Orlando, Florida. I began my teaching career in 1979 in Orleans, France, where I taught ESOL to professional adults. Upon my return to the United States in 1984, I began teaching English, French, and Spanish at various levels from pre-school to community college in public and private institutions. In 1999 I helped to open a new charter school in downtown Orlando. In 2003 I was elected foreign language teacher of the year for my district, and I achieved National Boards Certification for Teachers. Thanks to a scholarship I received from the French government in the summer of 2004, I attended a workshop in Perpignan, France for French teachers on teaching and technology integration. In the summers of 2005 and 2006, I accompanied students to Nice, France on the Riviera. Last summer I began working on a Master's in Instructional Technology at Regis University in Denver, Colorado. I love France and teaching French! My professional goal is to encourage my students to achieve a very high level of proficiency in the French language and to experience French culture. |
