Introduction	I am a public educator, husband, father, and concerned citizen who is worried about the direction of public education. I do not pine for some notion of the 1950s in hopes of returning to some simpler time. This is both naive and counterproductive. What I do hope to accomplish, however, is to create an awareness of the trends underway which threaten to undo the fabric of our society.
