| Introduction | My name is Kamal and I’m an English language teacher and teacher educator from Malaysia. I hold a B.Ed. (Hons) in TESL and graduated from the University of Warwick under a prestigious scholarship from the Malaysian government in 2013. For the past 6 years, I’ve been teaching in a public secondary school in my home country. From 2015 to 2016, I was selected as a mentor-advisor for the YPJ-OUM English Enrichment Programme in my institution for a group of 25 students. It was a collaborative programme between the Open University Malaysia (OUM) and the Ministry of Education. I was also appointed as a School-Based Mentor for a two-year fellowship programme in which I provided help and support to fellows from Teach for Malaysia (TFM) (similar to Teach First UK) in my institution. My most recent professional contribution also includes my role as one of the panels in the Textbook Reviewer Committee for the Malaysian Ministry of Education. In 2019, I was selected as a Hornby scholar by the British Council and was awarded a full scholarship from the A.S. Hornby Educational Trust. I am currently a postgraduate student at the Centre for Applied Linguistics (CAL), University of Warwick. |
