| Introduction | Hello, my name is Billy and I have a passion for ceramic artwork. I created this blog to write about and capture things interesting to me. As I visit places on the internet I find interesting ceramic art articles and images. I capture them in my blog called "Ceramic Artisan". I am interested in capturing true craftsmanship. This is a group of people who have pride in their work in the words of Tashio Odate. Toshio Odate is a master woodworker, schooled in the Japanese woodcraft tradition. He is the author of "Making Shoji" and "Japanese Woodworking Tools. One of my favorite ceramic artist is Bernard Leach. Leach defended simple and useful forms. His ethical pots are opposed to what he called fine art pots, which promoted rather than functional esthetic concerns. He continued producing work until 1972 and never ended his passion for travel, which made him a precursor to the artistic globalization of today. |
