| Introduction | I vaguely remember the Schoolhouse Rock jingle I heard in middle school but can't remember any of the words. Government never really appealed to me. I didn't like the way it felt so far away, like I didn't really have a voice that could be heard way up at the top of those steps. Now that I am a mother I think about every aspect of my children's future. I worry about the debt we are leaving for the next generation. I wonder what will happen to my husband and me when we are old; I know social security is not an option. It's gotten to the point now that I am scared enough to learn how our government works. I can't complain about or change the things I don't like if I don't know where to start. |
