Introduction	I write to share exotic places and to explain how to cross cultures, which I had to learn to do to make my way. I was born in Aruba where three generations of my family lived, spent my teens in Brazil, attended university in the U.S. and lived for some nine years in Tahiti where I was a translator for the courts. I speak English, French, Portuguese and Spanish and limp along in Italian and German. I am a terminal optimist. @tracynovinger
Interests	Out-of-the-way places, languages, cultures, literary fiction, non-fiction, birding, hiking and eclectic cooking for friends.
Favorite Music	Bach soothes my soul; the lilting voice of Brazilian singer Gal Costa gives a gentle rhythm to my day.
Favorite Books	Huckleberry Finn, To Kill a Mockingbird, Alice in Wonderland, The Elegance of the Hedgehog, The Yokota Officer's Club, The Brain That Changes Itself, The Book Thief, All the Light You Cannot See.
