Introduction I took this walk to raise public awareness (and sponsorship donations) for Sheltered Housing UK, a nationwide charity (RCN 1137806) that is campaigning to make sure that elderly and vulnerable people are properly looked after in sheltered housing. All over the country, the wardens they were promised have been withdrawn (Boo, hiss!) by Housing Associations that care more about profits than people. They are soaking money out of the elderly and out of the taxpayer, giving as little service as possible in return, and laughing gleefully all the way to the bank. Though they declare millions in profits every year and leave vulnerable people simply to fend for themselves, they are allowed to register as Charities and take huge tax breaks. How twisted is that? We are lobbying to get a law passed in Parliament to protect the human rights of sheltered housing residents. Many, many thanks to all the kind people who sponsored my walk - we work on a strictly voluntary basis, so 100% of your donation supports our campaign. If you live in England, please write to your MP. Thanks.
