About me

Occupation Music Historian, Musician, Teacher
Introduction My primary interests are Renaissance and Baroque instrumental music, especially for lute, guitar or harpsichord, but I also have a passion for Blues and Jazz. The evolution of tonal theory also holds a strong attraction for me.

My interests have prompted me to share my research in two modern editions of music for guitar or lute. One edition (in hardcopy) presents Franco-Flemish and Parision chansons of the early sixteenth century. The second edition (in eBook format) contains music of the French Clavecin (harpsichord) School at the court of Louis XIV and explores the cross-pollination of the guitar, lute, and harpschord. Both editions contain critical commentary useful to scholars and students and are available from Mel Bay Publications.

In addition to the musicology activities, I am an active performer on guitar and lute in both classical and jazz styles.
