Introduction We all need bags. Whether we use them to hold our daily bare basics, tote our groceries, or carry all of the possessions that we own in them-- the bag is a universally necessary tool and accessory regardless of place, class, circumstance, or identity. Community Baggage is an experiment. I make simple bags on the sewing machine in my living room, distribute them to friends, thrift stores, and strategic public locations, and wait to see if I can track how far each of them will go on this blog. If one if them is currently in your possession, please leave a comment on the respective bag's blog entry to provide an update of its location/circumstance! The name "Community Baggage" is a play on words. Sure, the bags on this blog are bags for the community. But as a community, we also share the collective "baggage" of coexistence. Its obvious that everyone is affected by air quality or water supply, for example-- but its not always so obvious that what we do affects the people around us. But it does. None of us ghost through our world without making an impression. All of us together make this space the place that it is.
