Introduction | Leila earned a MFA in Illustration from the University of Hartford, Connecticut, and a BFA in Animation/Illustration from San Jose State University where she is part of the faculty. During her studies she excelled in drawing, painting and most recently, printmaking. She has worked on successful animated short films such as Tule Lake, which was based on a true story and nominated by the Annie Awards, holding more than thirty awards worldwide. Always in pursuit of creative collaboration in the arts, she is particularly inspired by her personal experiences and for her admiration for the field of dance. Recently she has honored the ballet world’s professionals with an intimately expressive, masterfully-executed body of work highlighting their journeys. She also currently teaches at the Animation and Illustration program at SJSU as a foundations professor. |
