Introduction I enjoy dissolving the lines we draw between things and softening/questioning definition. As an artist I am concerned about the modern consumer as a subject and how it defines identity, its permanence, transience, and ultimate contradictions. Using Games and Play as a base and falling into the vanitas philosophies of the 16th century (and a current resurgence of the theme with artists today) I am exploring ideas of invincibility, fantasy dwelling and desire, working them in with their counterpoint: temporality and decay. Construction sites is a body of work acknowledging the constant state of flux and building in our lives, self as author and life becoming an extension of the limitless imagination; a saturation of desire, temptation, accessibility and disconnection.
Interests (this is not really an interests section:" this is an education section by default): The work extends from a residency completed in India in 2008, resulting in a solo exhibition ‘shadow stories’. Ideas are also developed from a body of work ‘hiding spaces’ exhibited in Moree’s Regional Art Gallery in 2006 and an exhibition ‘living on departure’ in San Diego in 2002. I am a painter based in Northern New South Wales. I completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Cofa (College of Fine Arts University of NSW), and studied studio arts at the University Of California San Diego, USA. I studied under Ruben Ortiz Torres and Alan Oldfield
