Introduction	I am a Professor of Education at The University of Sydney, Australia. I have spent a large part of my adult life as a teacher, academic, researcher and senior university administrator. My interests are varied, including how children learn language and literacy, the nature and construction of meaning, curriculum, pedagogy, and adult learning.

Favorite music	I have quite varied tastes in music including, Blues, Jazz, Opera, Gospel, and even some rock.
Favorite books	I'll stick to adult novels (you'll see the children's books I like on this blog) - Galileo's Daughter, Longitude, The Poisonwood Bible, Captain Corelli's Mandolin, Cold Mountain, Year of Wonders, Angela's Ashes, The Name of the Rose, Possession, Lincoln (Keneally), and varied authors including Tim Winton, Dickens, Lawson, and Robbie Burns
