Introduction I’ve grown soft fruit, herbs, vegetables and flowers for years for family and friends. Having been a Home Economics teacher, my enjoyment of producing and eating food has given me an interest in developing recipes and new ways of using fruit, culinary herbs and a widening range of vegetables. I’m always looking for new ways to use those gluts of seasonal vegetables we really hope to have. I have 2 allotments where I plan to grow and have my own produce all year round. I have a small poly tunnel which extends enormously the range of vegetables and growing season for many crops. I have grown (sometimes unsuccessfully!) in a range of soil types and climates in different places in the British Isles. My odd failures don’t discouraged my desire to grow, but encourage me to look for alternative routes to success, by changing crops, varieties or methods. Allotment growing provides friendship, help and shared plants. But mostly, I love being there and enjoying the results.
