Introduction I am the originator of the BizPlanBuilder® business plan software and the founder of JIAN (jee’on: it means the master of every art -- www.jian.com), the company behind a suite of successful business development software tools for Windows & Macintosh. In 1995, I was elected to the White House Conference on Small Business and saw first-hand what a cluster-f!@#$% politics really is. (We're not doomed if we just start our own businesses and help each other.) Then I was nominated for Ernst & Young’s "Entrepreneur of the Year." (Actually a pretty cool thing IMHO.) I love airplanes and am an instrument-rated pilot -- there are a few life-and-death lessons from flying that also apply to business. I also have a 2nd-degree black belt in TaeKwonDo which means I kept getting up and coming back -- something you'll need to do to build your company. Business Black Belt draws parallels from the martial arts and is rich in hard-won advice for building and running a business today. Many short chapters make for a quick read. I keep looking for inner secrets and clues to help us all evolve through this lifetime -- "your business is your dojo." (One of them anyway.)
