About me

Introduction	My wife, Nancy, and I are proud to raise our daughter, Zanna, in Lawrence. The people are friendly and down to earth, the community is vibrant and accessible, and we have great schools all over town. I am a KU psychology professor and my research focuses on risk factors for depression, an affliction that touches the lives of many of our loved ones. I am a product of and believer in public education and am ready to give back to my community by serving our children. As the son of a career military man, I learned humility for the hard work and sacrifices of those who came before me. Parents, teachers and taxpayers have worked together to make a successful school district and I hope to honor their efforts by making fiscally responsible choices and guiding the district to providing our children the best educational opportunities in the state.
