| Introduction | I teach English as a second language. I first worked in Nanjing, China in the early 1980s. I spent 20 years in the UAE, and now I teach at the University of Kansas, USA. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, walking the dog, and reading. Currently my favorite authors are Peter Russell and Emmet Fox. |

| Favorite music | I like almost all kinds of music--classical, pop, rock, country-western, Arabic, Chinese...you name it! I'm crazy about blues and jazz--I spend a lot of time listening to oldies. On the other hand, music should have more than just a beat for dancing. Much electronic (trance) is often boring and repetitive, while hip-hop often uses language that I find offensive. Music can be a spiritual link to the soul, and the words to songs can be poetry. Why settle for less? |
| Favorite books | I enjoy inspirational books like The Sermon on the Mount by Emmet Fox or anything by Peter Russell. By exercising the mind we develop the soul. |
