| Introduction | I grew up mostly in the Deer Lodge Valley of Montana, along with a few other temporary spots in California, Nevada, and Washington. I left Montana for the Marine Corps, however, on my 17th birthday following the death of my parents, which was the start of a great adventure that I think back to often. I served four years as an electronic technician in the corps, and lived 2-1/2 years on islands, including Cuba, Oahu, and the big island of Hawaii. Following my honorable disharge from the Marine Corpos, I embarked on another great adventure: I served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Colombia, South America.
