Introduction	I’m a 39 year old Portlander undergoing a personal reinvention (sounds better than “mid-life crisis”). A physician by training, I am leaving medicine to pursue my creative side. As a child, I loved drawing, painting, sewing, and crewel embroidery. Although I was artistically inclined, I chose science when it was time to “grow up and get a real job”. Last year as I was closing my medical practice, I taught myself how to crochet by watching YouTube videos. I’ve never looked back. My goal is to become a fiber artist and crochet designer, but I acknowledge that I have some learning to do before then. Crochet Boy is my alter ego, and symbolic of my creative side – alive and kicking after a period of relative dormancy.
