Introduction Full Professor of Atmospheric Physics at Bayero University in Kano, Nigeria. I obtained my Ph.D. M.Sc. and B.Sc. in Physics from the same university. I hold an M.Sc. in Environment and Development from the University of Reading in the United Kingdom; a study that I undertook with a fellowship from the Ford Foundation in 2002. I was one of the winners of the TWAS/OWSD/Elsevier Foundation Awards for Early Career Women Scientists in the Developing World in 2015. I was featured in Nature (The international Weekly Journal of Science) and in the BBC Radio Program: Discovery Science. I was also listed on the BBC 100 inspirational women of 2015. I am a mentor of girls and boys in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) field and volunteer in this regard with the Visiola Foundation, Nigeria and the Peace Corps Nigeria Alumni Foundation (PCNAF/ICEADA) Young Women Mentors Program. I am passionate about the environment and Climate Change and also volunteer in this regard with the African Climate Change Research Centre (ACCREC); a UN Climate Observer Organization.
Interests Social Justice, Sustainability of the Environment, Girl-child Education, Youth Empowerment, Nuclear nonproliferation, security and safeguards.
