If there's no I in team, why is there meat?

Possibly because team spelled backwards almost spells meat once the vowels are flip flopped. I think it makes more sense to shuffle the words into mate because teammate sounds much better than teammeat. Teammeat makes me think of uncomfortable locker rooms and shared showers - gross. Teammate on the other hand is a happy thought that makes me envision shared goals and comradery - nice.
