| Introduction | Welcome to California...
Who am I? I'm a single-but-attached woman in my 40's, fairly ordinary in many ways, fairly extraordinary in many others. I'm disabled, thanks to a car accident a few years ago, only 3 weeks after arriving in California. Quite the odd circumstance, but there it is. When it happened, one of my new CA friends said somewhat sardonically, "Welcome to California!". It was an interesting preview of the culture shock that was to come... :) Why start a blog? I notice things, and I want to comment on them. :) I notice little (or large) cultural differences, observations, interesting perceived cultural beliefs, and just interesting (at least to me) bits of things. I'm a relatively new transplant to California, only a few years now, and I've found there are many ways in which that alternatively-to-the-norm colors my perspective on many things. Even after a few years, there are many things about California that inspire wonder, joy, frustration, or confusion in me... and I wanted a place to write them down. :) That, plus my family has told me I need to write... they know I love it. This seemed like a good way to start. :) |
