| Introduction | Golden Kimba Service Dogs trains, places, and certifies Service Dogs for individuals with psychiatric disabilities. We offer specialized instruction, assistance, and support to individuals who are interested in training their own dogs for certification as Psychiatric Service Dogs. Prior to acceptance into our “Train Your Own Dog” program, the dog must have completed at least 3 levels of obedience training classes or be a registered Delta Society Therapy Dog. In addition, our participants must reside in Northern Colorado or South West Florida. After acceptance into our program, an individualized, highly specialized plan is developed for each potential Service Dog team. This maximizes the benefits each client can get from working with a Psychiatric Service Dog. Golden Kimba provides an intensive training program, based on a client’s disability and individual needs. The program includes obedience exercises, Service Dog etiquette, behavior in public, and training specific to each client’s disability. |
