Visual Journaling with color images and symbols, Yoga Meditation and more Yoga, Creating Altered Books and Collage Cards, Gazing Prayer and Guided Imagery, Discovering Best-Ever Desserts, Coloring and creating Mandalas, Friends friends friends, Basking in the sun like a cat which is the best way I know to describe Centering Prayer, Reading poetry and exploring words, Walking a labyrinth, Sacred reading and praying with scripture, Visiting art galleries and wandering through art museums, Finding the Holy everywhere, Being with our children and grandchildren who all teach me how to play, I love reading thinking reflecting, I love meaningful conversation with like minds and with differing minds, I love being a United Methodist pastor, writer, blogger, and Spiritual Director, I love being a mom wife daughter grammy aunt sister friend.
Favorite Movies It Happened One Night with Claudette Colbert (Amazing old black-and-white chic-flick), Audrey Hepburn movies (especially Funny Face with Empathicalism! in a 60s chic-flick), obviously any chic-flick, Star Wars series (Darth Vader -- quintessential example of spark of goodness in absolutely EveryOne), Training Day (alright I won't comment on every movie but ... okay okay), Frida, and so many more!
Favorite Music Mozart (every piece and every phrase is filled with the divine spark -- Everything is about God), James Taylor, Tracy Chapman, Bob Marley (love and redemption and more love), Simon & Garfunkel, Frank Sinatra, Beethoven (Pastoral Symphony is the best walking music ever!), Miles Davis, Carole King, Tom Petty, Beethoven and Brahms and Chopin piano music, Wynton Marsalis (smoother than smooth), Patsy Cline, John Michael Talbot, Styx, Chicago, America, The Moody Blues (those teenage memories!), Bach (the Brandenburg Concerti will lift any spirit); Elton John, Diana Krall (that Voice!), Glenn Miller and any swing music (mom and dad--I love listening with you in my heart), The Beach Boys, Jan & Dean, Buddy Holly, and Elvis of Course! (Wayne--sometimes you sound just like him), John Lennon, Yoko Ono (I loved her word long before she was with Lennon), The Beatles, Cole Porter (Tony -- you sing DeLovely better than AnyOne!), The Eagles, and so much more!
Favorite Books Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin, War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy (read it the first time when I was supposed to be studying for undergrad finals), anything by P.G. Wodehouse (especially the Jeeves books), Nero Wolfe mysteries by Rex Stout (Eugene Peterson writes how these can be examples of how to live a contemplatie spiritual life ... also recently learned that Stout and Wodehouse were good friends!), Janet Evanovich (laughing laughing laughing), Starbridge Series by Susan Howatch (Spiritual direction and philosophy), Bingo by Rita Mae Brown (laugh-out-loud-funny again), mysteries by Dame Agatha, mysteries mysteries mysteries, and sooo many others, and of course our Sacred Scriptures in the Bible.
