| Introduction | Laura Brookes is a Toronto-based goldsmith. Laura had a passion for jewellery early on, selling her beaded necklaces to classmates in high school. This interest led her to continue her growth in taking jewellery classes at Algonquin College in Ottawa and then George Brown College in Toronto, completing a three-year Jewellery Arts Program. Her designs are influenced primarily by organic forms and natural textures. Her inspiration comes from her many travels as well as her surroundings, which are constantly changing as she matures. These include machinery, trees & architecture. “I’m captivated by the man-made geometric nature of machinery and architecture existing alongside nature’s own organic symmetry.” She designs and produces work from her home studio, including custom design and special commissions. Awards Pat Cooney award for best jewellery design to be manufactured for the ‘Hanging out to Dry’ series. Exhibitions ‘Flux’ – Jewellery Arts graduating class exhibition at Bounty, Harbourfront Centre, Toronto – 2004 Laura Brookes Design is based in Toronto, Canada.
