Introduction Just about to hit 40 in a little over a year - nervous about that. A control freak who's currently experiencing a big situation that I have little or no control over - it hurts more than I could ever fathom; I can only wait and hope that it ends with a smile.
Interests Not much at the moment - trying to learn how to take care of 2 kids solo. But otherwise, I love to paint, experiment with texture and materials on canvas and paint again, making old furniture new and beautiful again, making the house smell yummy, home fix-it jobs, making the yard look good when I have the extra energy to get my butt outside in the Texas heat, creating and selling jewelry if I am lucky to have the time to do so, making my son feel like I am his power ranger power source, making my daughter smile and those priceless moments when she finds comfort leaning into my chest w her sweet little head.
Favorite Movies Terms of Endearment, Wes Anderson movies, Tarantino movies, Any Coen Brothers movies especially: O Brother Where Art Thou? The Fifth Element, Shark Boy and Lava Girl, Mad Maxx, The Gladiator (John looks just like R.Crowe - freaky), Repo Man, American Beauty, Delicatessen, Charlie Brown Movies, Seasame Street, Alien, Amelie, Ghost World, The Jerk, Brazil, City of Lost Children, Time Bandits, Most Dustin Hoffman movies, The Ice Storm, Any other 'shot in the arm' realistic movies, Annie Hall, Manahattan, Apocalypse Now, Clockwork Orange/Stanley Kubrick stuff, 2001: A Space Odyssey, 1984 (ohhhh...the soundrack, how perfect), Any Tim Burton movie and my son's fave: Nightmare Before Christmas (my son sings to it)....and others I can't think of now.
Favorite Music FAVE SONGs EVER: Old man, Needle and the damage done (N.Young), FAVE SONGs of OF THE MOMENT: #1-Ween: 'Mutilated Lips' off The Mollusk, #2-Neko Case: 'Hold On Hold On' off Fox Confessor, #3- Low: 'Two Step' off Secret Name), #4/5 The Mike Gunn 'Bliss Blood' off Durban Poison, 'Clean' off Coduh, 'Holger' and older 'Mr Fog' (pre MG) rock too. FAV MUSIC: Elliott Smith, Scratch Acid, Codeine, Built To Spill, Mule, Neko Case, The aging gracefully Annie Lennox and the Eurythmics, Grifters, Those Bastard Souls, Sunny Day Real Estate, Portishead, David Sylvian, Slint, Low, Television, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, The Damned, Cocteau Twins or anything on 4AD with Elizabeth Frazier's angelic voice, PJ Harvey, Jesus Lizard, Calexico, Talk Talk, The Men's Club, Rocket From The Crypt, Laughing Hyenas, REM, Dunlavy (some songs are so perfectly moody plus John's singing eerily/beautifully fills the space), the Mike Gunn, Project Grimm (minus a few straight-shooter songs), Sonic Youth, KD Lang, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Coltrane, old scratchy blues stuff, Neil Young, Acetone, Wilco, Ween, Air, Modest Mouse, Cibo Mato, X, Stereolab, De La Soul, The Smiths, Radiohead, Sepultura, DRI, Fear, Tortise, Michelle Shocked, Crowded House, Cotton Mather, Simon & Garfunkel, Willie and Waylon (tribute to my Dad), Any song with Emmylou Harris/Allison Krauss/Gillian off "O Brother Where Art Thou" Soundtrack. OLD FAVORITES I STILL HOLD DEAR: all the '85, '86, '87 dance club songs/bands going full force while in high school on under-age trips to Numbers and Rich's. Bronski Beat re-mixes, Siouxsie re-mixes, Section 25, Sharpe & G.Numan, 4AD Stuff, Bauhaus, Echo & The Bunnymen, Re- Flex, funky Love & Rockets mixes and....any hard to find 12" that snuck in the IMPORT section at Sound Warehouse when I worked there in high school. Spent all my h.school money on that stuff, then later sold all those records - what an idiot!

What do you live for? My family, and with more focus on the small details, getting back to basics so-to-speak - I look forward to the rewards it may bring.
