| Introduction | I am a Certified Specialist in Aging, Geriatric Care Consultant who has managed caregiving of parents for children who live in different parts of the country. I have had extensive personal caregiving experiences for my father who had a debiliating stroke, friends and family with different stages of dementia, and traumatic brain injury. I offer training in communication with the elderly including physician practices. Let's do away with "Waiting Rooms" and make them into "Meeting Rooms" where caregivers and care recipients can support each other and create new friendships. My experience in the field of gerontology includes marketing in two senior living communities in South Florida and developing a caregiver support group in North Georgia with other healthcare professionals and caregivers. I am co-authoring a gerontology text entitled "Conversations: Effective Communication with the Elderly" due Fall 2011. |
