Introduction The quick response: complex. I try to live by my heart, but I find myself taking a rather realistic approach to life. I'm sarcastic, cynical, find value in the little things in life, am always up for an adventure (if I don't have 3 papers due for my graduate classes or lesson plans for the next 2 weeks due *sigh*), but always tend to worry about the bigger picture. I hate feeling stagnant and that has probably been what led me to switch careers from working in a lab to teaching high school biology. Well…I hate stagnation AND really ridiculously shitty pay. Oh, and I tend to swear like a sailor =)
Interests Nearly everything. Seriously. Reading, appreciating a good glass of wine, botany, environmental issues, movies, tennis, photography, learning how to golf, learning how to teach (lol), random arts and crafts, trying new foods, politics, reconnecting with old friends, appreciating music, going to concerts, taking advantage of the few days of perfect Chicago weather, visiting the Chicago Botanic Garden…etc.
Favorite Movies WAY too many to list (worked at a video store for over 3 years) so you'll just have to ask me.
Favorite Music A ridiculous variety. Over 8 gigs of said ridiculous variety =)
Favorite Books Anything by Haruki Murakami, Orson Scott Card, Paulo Cohelo, or Kurt Vonnegut are good reads. I have a random poetry book by Stephen Crane that I have been oddly attached to since high school. Michael Pollan's books are always interesting. Running With Scissors has me cracking up. Ugh...I have a lot of books. I can't really choose favorites!
