Recovery: 1000 miles one step at a time

Introduction	I am a child of God and a mother on a journey. My journey has taken many twists over the years that have stretched me and taught me much. However, when my oldest son's journey took him into addiction, my journey also took a very scary turn. But through the support of family, friends, counseling, Alanon, and most importantly God, I am learning to navigate this journey with more peace than fear, more focus on self-care than self-destruction or self-denial, and more understanding of the disease of addiction as well as of my own co-dependent drivers. Today, I am learning to live in the present, focusing on awareness of God at work, and trusting God with my children. Just as my 1000 mile project is accomplished one step at a time so does my journey of faith, awareness, trust, peace, and healing come one day at a time. I will humbly share my experiences to offer hope and encouragement to those who may be experiencing similar journeys. I will not capture it perfectly or live out life consistently. I hope you will provide grace as I share what I am learning. Lastly, I want to acknowledge my son's courage today as he battles his addicition and is willing to be public about that.
