| Introduction | I'm an Australian born woman who now finds herself suddenly very happily married and living permanently in Harlem, New York City. Over the years I've worked picking green onions, as a telemarketer, a cook to the Cousin of the Queen Mother of England, waitress, pulled pints of Guinness in Ireland, tried inventing a drink n dial phone, made charcoal in the Australian bush, ran a restaurant in the very remote Fjordland in New Zealand, taught English in Spain, been an assistant to an electrician and worked for seven years on some of the world's must luxurious and prestigious yachts as a chef. This blog is about those experiences, both culinary and life and the new ones that I'm having as I make my first foray into life in one place, New York, food photography (I promise they will get better!) and Soul Food - do names get much better than that? It is also a collection of things I love to cook, the food that makes me and the people I love happy. Some of the dishes are fabulously simple and some require more time. All taste wonderful. If anything must be sacrificed in the kitchen then flavor in my mind, must always be the last man standing. Rats and monkeys scare me. |
