| Introduction | David Wilson Atwood is an author, a writing teacher, a veteran, a Christian and a homeschool dad. He is an experienced and talented public speaker and storyteller. David Wilson Atwood is the author of Where the Mockingbird Sang, I Followed the Wolf, Buck's Story, the prequel/sequel to Where the Mockingbird Sang, and The Common Guys Guide to Raising Children. He is best known for his long running column, Points of the Compass in the Anchorage Daily News, Talk of the Bay magazine, the Fairhope Courier, and all Gulf Coast Newspapers, where he has essayed subjects ranging from Vietnam to combat fishing in Alaska. David majored in biology and chemistry at the University of Texas at Austin after his combat tour in Vietnam with the Marine Corps. He is the father of eight children and lives in Fairhope, Alabama with his wife and two daughters. David and family arrived in Fairhope November 10 (The Marine Corps Birthday) 2006 on their sailing vessel Starchaser after traveling and cruising for three years. Their journey took them from Alaska to Fairhope with many miles and stops in between. |
