| Introduction | I have been playing the piano since I was a child and I taught piano for a few years, but I didn't start composing until about 15 years ago. It has been a satisfying process to learn the ins and outs of music theory, composing, using finale, attempting to publish, recording, etc. I have learned so much. Nothing is more satisfying than to see a piece of music come together. The publishing market is tough to get into and has been discouraging at times. It would have been validating to have something be published - maybe someday. However, I have realized that I enjoy the process and that this is something I need to do in order to grow and to express myself, whether it is validated or not. I have been inspired by the words of Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf, "The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul. No matter our talents, education, backgrounds, or abilities, we each have an inherent wish to create something that did not exist before." In the end, what I really want is for the music to be enjoyed, especially by family and friends. So I hope that you try a few of the songs and that they might appeal to you. |
